The last 10 nights of Ramadan 2026 fall between March 19-29. This is when millions descend on Makkah seeking Laylatul Qadr — the Night of Power, better than a thousand months. Here's your survival guide from someone who's lived through it.
What to Expect
Crowd estimate: 2.5-3 million people. The Haram operates 24/7. Every floor, every corner, every rooftop will be occupied. Walking from your hotel (even 5 minutes away normally) can take 30-45 minutes. The energy is indescribable — exhausting and spiritually electric.
The Strategy
1) Secure your spot after Asr prayer and don't leave until after Fajr. 2) Bring snacks, water, medication, and a small bag. 3) Use odd nights (21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, 29th) for maximum effort. 4) The rooftop is your friend — less crowded, same reward. 5) Pace yourself. 10 nights is a marathon, not a sprint.
Signs of Laylatul Qadr
According to hadith, Laylatul Qadr is a peaceful night — not too hot, not too cold. The sun rises the next morning without strong rays (pale, like a brass dish). But the scholars say: don't look for signs. Worship every odd night as if it's THE night. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Seek it in the last ten nights, on the odd nights" (Bukhari).
The Dua to Make
Aisha (RA) asked the Prophet ﷺ what to say if she knew which night was Laylatul Qadr. He taught her: "Allahumma innaka 'afuwwun tuhibbul 'afwa fa'fu 'anni" — O Allah, You are Forgiving and love forgiveness, so forgive me. (Tirmidhi). Repeat this throughout the night.
