"The Night of Power is better than a thousand months" (Quran 97:3). That's over 83 years of worship in a single night. In Ramadan 2026, Laylatul Qadr falls on one of the odd nights between March 19-27. Here's how to make the most of it in Makkah.
When Is It?
The exact night is hidden — a mercy that encourages us to worship multiple nights. The Prophet ﷺ said to seek it in the odd nights of the last ten: 21st night (Mar 19-20), 23rd (Mar 21-22), 25th (Mar 23-24), 27th (Mar 25-26), 29th (Mar 27-28). Many scholars lean toward the 27th, but treat every odd night as potentially THE night.
How to Worship
1) Pray Taraweeh and Tahajjud with the imam — the Haram's Qiyam is extraordinary. 2) Make abundant dua — write down your requests beforehand so you don't forget. 3) Read Quran — even a few pages. 4) Make dhikr — SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, Allahu Akbar. 5) Give charity — many apps allow instant donation. 6) Sincerely repent — this is the night for it.
The Essential Dua
Aisha (RA) asked: "O Messenger of Allah, if I know which night is Laylatul Qadr, what should I say?" He said: "Say: Allahumma innaka 'afuwwun tuhibbul 'afwa fa'fu 'anni" — O Allah, You are Forgiving and love forgiveness, so forgive me. (Tirmidhi). This is THE dua of Laylatul Qadr. Repeat it constantly.
Practical Tips for Makkah
Arrive at the Haram after Asr and claim your spot. Bring water, snacks, phone charger, and a small Quran. Use the bathroom before Isha — lines get insane. The rooftop is less crowded and just as valid. Don't exhaust yourself on the 21st — you have 5 odd nights to cover. Pace yourself.
