Breaking your fast with the Kaaba in sight is a blessing many dream of. In Ramadan 2026, you'll have several options — from the simple spirituality of dates and Zamzam inside the Haram to full restaurant meals in the Abraj Al-Bait complex.
Inside the Haram (Free)
The simplest and most spiritual option. Zamzam water stations are everywhere. Before Maghrib, volunteers distribute dates and sometimes light snacks. Many pilgrims bring their own food from their hotels. Eating inside the mosque is permitted (and encouraged for fasting pilgrims). Just clean up after yourself.
Abraj Al-Bait Mall
The clock tower complex has a massive food court with everything: Al Baik (a must-try — the local fried chicken obsession), Hardee's, Kudu, Pizza Hut, Shawarma spots, and more. Expect 30-60 minute waits at peak iftar time. Pro tip: order 30 minutes before Maghrib and pick up right at Adhan.
Nearby Restaurants
Al Baik (King Abdulaziz Road): The legendary Saudi chain. Get the spicy chicken meal. Lines are long but worth it. Kudu: Saudi's answer to Subway, with excellent breakfast options. Herfy: Burgers and sandwiches, open late. Fakieh Poultry: For those wanting traditional Saudi grilled chicken. Most hotels also offer iftar packages — check with your front desk.
Budget Tip
Many mosques and charitable organizations set up free iftar tents around Makkah during Ramadan. The food is simple but filling — rice, chicken, dates, water. It's also a beautiful way to share the Ramadan spirit with fellow pilgrims from around the world.
